July 5 question - 99% of my story ideas come from dreams. Where do yours predominantly come from?

This is an easy answer this month--from the news! Especially the news in Florida. It seems odd things happen in that state.

The idea for Dangerous Sanctuary, a romantic suspense novel, came from an article in the Orlando paper about a couple whose RV blew up in a campground. They were traveling with a goat, a pig and a rabbit. Yes, true story. I HAD to include that quirky situation in my book!

hi,
I had to laugh when I read your answer because I try to look at the news sparsely or better said very seldom.
Take care.

Congrats on finishing your WIP. That's great that you find ideas from stories in the news. I read the news all the time and will keep my mind open for a story idea.

Wrapping up a book is good.
That is quite the funny tale.

I wouldn't have guessed that is where the plot came from. Now I really want to move to Florida!

That's a crazy story.

Okay, I think I'm going to take the plunge on the recipe bit.

I try not to watch the news, just read the headlines to stay up to speed on what's going on in the world. I love how you came up with your romantic suspense idea!

Congratulations on nearly finishing your current wip. That's an accomplishment! Like others, I tend to avoid the news, though found your snippet inspiring and glad it led to your story. Good luck on the Smashwords promo. Isn't marketing challenging. Seems like I never really know what's going to work . . . best!

I am sure Flannery O'Conner would have had fun with that story, too. Florida, from which I have resisted a call to move several times in my life, is ripe with material. I love Carl Haaisen's books set in southern Florida with "Skinny Dip" being my favorite. https://fromarockyhillside.com

I did not realize that's where the story line for Dangerous Sanctuary came from. Cool!

I too get ideas from news and magazine stories. A rich mine for ideas. I get that feeling at the end of writing a book. It's hard saying goodbye to your darlings. All the best!
