National Library Week April 23-2023 #mylibrarystory
Hello and Welcome to the Focused on Story Blog by J.Q. Rose. I had to pop in today to let you know this is National Library Week!
I 💖 my library.
Would you believe there are more libraries in the US than Starbucks or McDonalds?
According to the USC News, “There are over 17,000 public libraries in the U.S. alone,” said Gary Shaffer. “More than there are Starbucks or McDonald’s. To me, that suggests they’re alive and well." Gary Shaffer is the new director of the Master of Management in Library and Information Science program at USC Marshall.
Libraries today are not the ones you visited as a kid! Not only books but audiobooks and eBooks, classes, speakers, toys, crafts, games! Our library even offers an exercise class and a stretch and walk group!
Go visit your library. You'll be in awe of all the items and programs available to you. And thank the librarians who work hard every day to create the best experience for their patrons.
Have you downloaded the Hoopla or Libby app to check out eBooks and audiobooks? Amazing. I can download a book from my library no matter if I am at home or in Florida! You need a library card to use the apps. Try them. Hoopla also has movies, documentaries and courses!!
