Welcome Tricia!!
Thank
you so much for having me as a guest on your summer series, Janet.
It
is summer in your part of the world, but where I live (Victoria Australia) it
is coming up to winter. We are currently experiencing beautiful autumn days
after smoky, foggy mornings. This is the first year we have had so many drab
and dim dawns with disturbingly high smog readings. Our part of the world
(especially Melbourne) is renowned for having four seasons in one day, so to be
honest my schedule doesn’t alter a lot seasonally, apart from the donning of
more or less clothing to accommodate the changes in temperature.
These days my
outdoor activities are confined to walking my dogs or pottering in my garden.
While my husband was alive each year come July (our winter officially starts
June 1st) we would take off for about three months, towing our
caravan, and head for the north and a warmer climate.
I miss those travels
where I would get a lot of writing done while hubby was off fishing or doing
whatever men get up to. I know he always managed to find someone to chat to and
would be gone for hours at a time. Some of the inspiration for my contemporary novels,
which are all set in Australia, was found during those long summer days.
Back of the Book:
So,
here’s the blurb for Lonely Pride, a
contemporary romance I would like to give away to one of your readers:
Lonely Pride by Tricia McGill Contemporary Romance |
Sam
fell in love with Mac at first sight when she was still a child and he a
teenage boy, almost but not quite a man. A special bond formed between
them, fuelled by their mutual love of animals—especially horses. As each
matured, that bond threatened to move beyond the limits of friendship. By the time
Sam reached her 17th birthday she was desperately in love with him, her shining
hero. But one awful night Mac betrayed that love and Sam was unable to find it
in her heart to forgive him. By the time the truth was revealed they had both
moved on with their lives, and Sam’s pride prevented her from forgiving Mac;
threatened to ensure her a lonely future.
I’ve
chosen to feature this book as it is set in the beautiful state of Tasmania,
and because I have recently returned from a short holiday in that state some of
the scenery and events included in this story are still fresh in my mind. I
visited my friend of fifty years and we recalled certain events and characters
from the past that make this state and its people unique.

About Tricia:
Award
winning author Tricia McGill was born in London, England, and moved to
Australia many years ago, settling near Melbourne.
The youngest in a large, loving family she was never lonely or alone. Surrounded by avid readers, who encouraged her to read from an early age, is it any wonder she became a writer? Although her published works cross sub-genres, romance is always at their heart.

Thank you, Tricia, for participating in the Summer Readers Circle series. You are one busy lady with your volunteer work and writing career. I love the premise of your book.
Thank you so much for having me as your guest, Janet.
Your post reminded me of my wonderful holiday in Australia seven years ago. We included a number of days in Melbourne, where my sister was living at the time. From Melbourne, she took us on a road trip to Broken Hill. On that holiday, we also visited the Australian interior, Darwin region, Great Barrier Reef and Sydney. I'd love to return if it wasn't so far from Canada.
Susan, that sounds like an amazing trip! I know it's a long flight from the States to Australia. Thank you for stopping by.
Thanks for hosting Tricia, JQ. Those caravan holidays sound like a writer's dream. I'm another one who would love to visit Australia, except I really do not like airplanes, and that's way too far for me, but it's wonderful to travel vicariously through authors like Tricia McGill. I've read several of her novels, and can vouch for the fact that historical or contemporary, she pulls you into her stories and transports you to another place so much more comfortably than an airplane. Thanks Tricia, for the hours of pleasure I've received from your novels. Jude
Susan, my sister lived in Broken Hill for a few years as her partner at the time was born and bred there. Very unusual town--and hilly--and dry. Except we were there once when it rained so much the streets were flooded and a man was canoeing down the main street.
Jude, I am another one who doesn't like flying. I went back to England in 1975 and told them if they wanted to see me again they would have to come to Australia. Some of my relatives did just that.
Thanks JQ
Broken Hill was interesting. We visited the School of the Air and Flying Doctor Museum, both unique aspects of Australia that I had heard about or seen on Australian TV shows broadcast in North America when I was a child. Our visit there was hot and dry. On the return trip we encountered a swarm of grasshoppers that splattered our windshield so heavily we could hardly see through it.
Lonely pride is a very catchy title. I am definitely gonna give this book a go.
