I just returned from two weeks of roaming around the deserts, mountains, and rocks of the Southwest USA. What a completely different experience from my life in green, tree-laden, lake-rich Michigan. The wide open vistas, sands, dwarf bushes, and cacti were never in my life except when I watched cowboys like Roy Rogers and Rex Allen race across the movie screen when I was a little kid. Loved all those movies, but never imagined I would ever visit the movie locations.

Now I'm home and tapping on the keyboard filled with eagerness to get down all the ideas I thought about while riding hours and hours in our little rental car from one destination to the next. We put on 2400 miles on this trip and that doesn't count the plane ride from Michigan to Las Vegas!!

So, at this moment, I'm not feeling insecure about my writing, but fired up to get to it! How about you? Does taking time away from the keyboard (or pen and paper) inspire your writing projects? I'd love to read your thoughts on this. Thank you for stopping in.

It is so important to take a break. I find it does inspire the muse and I'm planning a trip in the middle of the month to the beach for such a purpose. Can't wait to hear about your ideas! Congratulations on Deadly Undertaking!

Good for you, Rolanda. Enjoy the beach!

Helena--the landscape from a distance is awesome, but when one actually drives/walks out to peer down into the Grand Canyon, it is dizzying. I was actually afraid of falling in even with the guard rails. Scary but magnificent!

Thanks, Anna. Raring to go, but first things first. Laundry, housekeeping, garden veggies prepped. THEN I'll settle down into a writing time. Oops, forgot the grands are coming. Life is good.

I envy your trip to the Southwest. I miss living in Albuquerque. Nothing more beautiful than high desert.

As someone who moved from Michigan to the Tucson, AZ area when she retired 5 years ago, I can certainly see why you enjoyed your southwestern adventure. I love my mountain vistas and Sonoran desert lifestyle. My MI friends love visiting me here during the winter and going home with a tan!

Hi Diane, I would love to see the desert in bloom. What a beautiful sight that would be.

J.Q. Rose said...

Hello Elizabeth. I'm sure Michiganders would love the sun in the winter. I think that would be the best time to visit. We ran into a lot of 3 digit temps during our time there. Glad you love the area so different from Michigan landscapes.

J.Q. Rose said...

Thanks, Joylene. Now if I can just corral all these ideas and enthusiasm, I'll be happy! Thank you for stopping by.

Even when I go on vacation, I usually take my iPad with me. There is something about being in a new location that kicks off my thinking. Sentences dart across my mind or sometimes whole paragraphs and I need to write them down before I forget them. Another thing is that I dream when I am away on a different location and I like to write my dreams down immediately.

That looks like a fun trip! I've never been to your area, but I've been to Vegas enough times for family reunions. It's hot and dry with way too many people for me. But it's fun to see again every once in a while.

Hope your sale goes well!

J.Q. Rose said...

Thanks, Tyrean. Glad you stopped by.

Pat, that's a great idea to use the ipad. I have a little notebook to scribble in, but my ideas come while we are driving and I get sick if I try to read or write while moving. sigh...so I try to remember to write it down later...or at least jot a note. I never thought about having different dreams in a different location. Interesting.

Hi Loni, Vegas is not one of my favorite places to go, but since we flew in and out of there, we did spend a small amount of time. First time we'd been to the Fremont St. Experience. What a bunch of weird people there...They probably thought we were weird too!

new jersey divorce lawsIn New Jersey, divorce follows "no-fault" or "fault" grounds. No-fault grounds typically involve irreconcilable differences, living separately for at least 18 months, or separation with no reasonable prospect of reconciliation. Fault grounds include adultery, extreme cruelty, desertion, or drug/alcohol abuse. New Jersey requires a minimum residency of one year before filing for divorce. The equitable distribution principle guides property division, and alimony may be awarded based on factors like duration of marriage and financial need. Legal representation is advisable for navigating the intricacies of New Jersey divorce laws.
