Super Bowl Sunday in the USA this Sunday, February 2. Fans gather together to cheer on their favorite team. Some of us are there to watch the super bowl competition between the creative commercials. Who knew commercials would be the focus? But all of us are actually there for the party and the food! Yes, you are! Chili seems to be a favorite of most folks, so this recipe for chili soup will be a great crowd-pleaser. Alright I admit this is not HOT chili, but add more chili pepper or whatever pepper/sauces you like to satisfy your heat index.
My sister-in-law, Sandy, gave me this easy recipe many years ago. Cook it up on the stove or keep it hot in a slow cooker.

CHILI
2 pounds ground beef
2 large onions
1 can stewed tomates (with or without celery)
1 can tomato soup or tomato sauce plus 1 1/2 cans of water
2 cans red kidney beans
1 bottle chili sauce plus 1 bottle of water
1 T. chili powder (or to your taste)
salt and pepper
Brown meat. Add all other ingredients. Simmer 2-4 hours on stove top.

Sounds like a good recipe for this subzero weather. I add a jar of hot salsa to my chili. It takes the place of tomato sauce and is already spicy.
I don't think I've ever watched a Superbowl game.
My girls love chili, and since we're working on their cooking skills, this looks like a great recipe to try. Thanks!
Leona, even in Florida this winter I've made chili to warm us up. Good idea to dump in the salsa. I do remember I added some leftover picante sauce this last batch. I take it you don't follow pro football, eh? Me either. But I do like the snacks at the party. LOL
Yes, Tess, this is an easy recipe. The hardest part is opening all the cans. LOL.. Let me know what they think. BTW, if you want it a little sweeter for them, I add some Heinz ketchup too. Stay warm!
We watched the game in a beach bar in Bucerias and ate ground beef tortillas. Next time we'll try this recipe. Sounds yummy.
I made chili for my pre-superbowl party. I can't handle anything remotely spicy, though, so I skip any hot sauce (do use chili powder) and use tomato soup and bbq sauce to sweeten it a little.
